GG and George’s Annual Idol Podcast

Written by: George Bounacos

You might think after missing on SonicClash’s American Idol Pick the Top 12 contest that Garrett and George were done with American Idol prognostication.

Nope.

Tune in to this special edition of Sonic Clash Radio to hear the American Idol Geeks discuss Simon’s last year, who should have been in the top 12, and the controversy surrounding Michael Lynche.  They even tell you their picks for the final 3, although George cheated and added a fourth.

But even that’s not enough.  Stayed tuned because Sonic’s new Idol contest will be unveiled way before the first singer takes the stage Tuesday.

Hey you guys... discussion of the fourth judge for next year? Did either of you see that one of my favorite producers Steve Lillywhite is lobbying for Simon's chair? I think it would be a genius choice. The guy has all sorts of industry knowledge, artsy and specifically "rawk" artsy credibility (he's produced U2, for heaven's sake); he's smart, he's got a handsome accent, and, like Simon was 10 years ago, he's virtually unknown to the public, which I think is the problem Ellen's been coming up against (trying to reconcile audience expectations of her public persona vs. actually trying to be an American Idol judge). He totally gets my vote, and he seems to genuinely want it.

  • Wow -- I don't know what kind of judge he would be, but he certainly knows music better than 99.999% of the world. I thought he had a pretty full dance card as a producer, but I guess this show sets him up for life.

He would certainly bring huge credibility to the show. Hard for a contestant (or anyone) to argue with the guy who produces U2, The Stones and Dave Matthews
