The Best Albums of the Decade?
Written by: Money Mike
Hey Readers…hope you all had a great Thanksgiving and you’re recovering from either food coma or getting trampled on in the midst of Black Friday madness.
On Wednesday (or was it Tuesday? I forget…), I gave you guys a look at Popdose.com’s list of the 100 Best Songs of the past 10 years. Well, continuing in that realm, the site has also published a list of the 100 Best Albums of the decade. I won’t give away the results, you’ll have to check them out yourself, but it’s definitely an interesting read.
Here’s my own list of the decade’s Top 50 albums. If you’re aware of my musical tastes, I don’t think you’ll be too surprised by my selections. It is WAY too much work to offer individual commentary, but if you have any questions about why something may or may not have been included, feel free to ask!!

I really think “Game Theory” should be here, perhaps in “The Tipping Point”s place.
Excellent list though Mike. This has moved albums from the ‘yeah-I-need-to-get-this-sometime’ to ‘I-need-to-splurge-on-this-with-Christmas-money’, haha (including “Comin’ From Where I’m From,” “Once Again,” “Sea Change,” “Plans,” and look more into Girl Talk and John Mayer.
I kinda dig those guys at Popdose. They have all the knowledge of today’s rock press without any of the bullshit. I’ll have to keep up with them.
Interesting list Mike. I figured “White Ladder,” “Get Behind Me Satan” and “The Grind Date” would be shoo-ins. I was kind of surprised they didn’t make it. Assuming the individual commentary doesn’t screw me over, I should have my own list prepared before the end of the year.
Lots of folks seem to like “Game Theory” more than “The Tipping Point”. I just think that “Game Theory” is a little too serious. It’s kind of a down record. “Tipping Point” has a little more levity.
Greg, you caught me. I don’t know how the Stripes got left off the list, and when I originally put together the list, I thought “White Ladder” came out in 1999 and not 2000. Thanks for the heads up.
